CHARGER LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

The University of New Haven’s Charger Leadership Experience, and departments within the Division of Students Affairs, focus on creating unified and transformative leadership pathways for students to develop the skills and competencies employers have indicated they look for in college graduates. Participating in such experiences will allow students to identify, demonstrate, and articulate the following through the Charger 11 Competencies and Social Change Model.

Vision Statement

The Social Change Model

Exploring the 7 C's of the Social Change Model

• Consciousness of Self: Understanding our beliefs and values.
• Congruence: Aligning our actions with our beliefs and values and putting them into practice.
• Committment: Staying engaged and inveseted, even in the face of challenges and obstacles. 
• Common Purpose: Finding connections among the group.
• Collaboration: Working as a team and being inclusive of ideas and voices of others. 
• Controversy with Civility: Addressing team challenges with care and consideration to stay connected and committed to the team.  
• Citizenship: Understanding the interconnectedness of our leadership work in relation to the communities we serve and the impact it has.

Change gives meaning and purpose to all of the other C's of the values. It is the pinnacle and ultimate goal of the creative process of leadership - to make a better world and a better society for self and others.
