In a message to the University community, President Kaplan condemned Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
Dear Members of the University Community,
As a University community, we denounce all acts of violence and intimidation, and join leaders and people just like us from across the world in condemning in the strongest terms the unprovoked and unjustified attack that Russia has launched against Ukraine. The actions of Russia are an assault on democracy and an attack on the values we hold dear.
No members of our University community are currently in Ukraine. We are in the process of connecting with those within our community who may be affected to offer support and any resources we might be able to provide. We will also continue to closely monitor our students who are studying abroad to ensure their safety.
As educated and engaged individuals, it is critical that we are aware of and understand world affairs and their widespread impact across the globe. I encourage you to stay informed and to take part in the programs and events taking place across the University that are created to cultivate conversation and foster understanding.
Above all, we stand with the people of Ukraine, and allies from across the globe, as they steadfastly resist invasion, fight for their freedom, and bravely face the dangers of this unthinkable tragedy.
With best wishes,
Steven H Kaplan, Ph.D.
President
