By the end of his college career, Jake Wieners hopes to complete several short films and earn an internship that could lead to an opportunity writing or directing movies.
During his college search, Jake Wieners ’22 met University of New Haven communications department chair Tom Garrett, a veteran film producer and director who has rubbed elbows throughout his career with Spike Lee, Quentin Tarantino, and John Travolta, among others.
It was the interactions they had that convinced Wieners to join the University’s Class of 2022.
"I enrolled because I felt like Prof. Garrett, through our few encounters, learned the kind of person I am," he said. "I feel like he saw my determination. Because of this, I felt inspired to join him."
By the end of his college career, Wieners hopes to complete several short films and earn an internship that could lead to an opportunity writing or directing movies. "I have a very good feeling that the University can help me get my foot in the door in my field," he said.
"I’m really excited to get some of my projects that are at the moment out of reach into production with the help of my classmates. I’m also excited to meet new people and help them as much as I can on their projects." Jake Wieners ’22, Communication Major
