Criminal Justice Grad: ‘I’ve Learned I’m Capable of More Than I Ever Imagined’

Melanie Campodonico ’18 will begin pursuing a master’s degree in international crime and justice at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the fall.

Melanie Campodonico ’18 has wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement ever since she participated in a mock crime scene investigation when she was in middle school.

"It was a difficult task, but I enjoyed the challenge," she said.

She chose to attend the University of New Haven because, "I knew the criminal justice program would give me the best education possible," she continued. "Graduating from here means that I had a top-of-the-line experiential education in a welcoming learning environment that encouraged my professional growth every day."

In the fall, she will begin pursuing a master’s degree in international crime and justice at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

"I look up to police officers who ensure the safety of our society," she said. "I see this field as a way to give back to the community and help others."

One of her favorite experiences at the University was studying abroad at its campus in Tuscany, Italy. "I expanded my horizons, immersed myself in a unique culture, and learned the language," she said. "It was a challenging yet rewarding experience that I will always remember."
