About Zachary
Zachary Goldberg is an Associate Professor of Practice and Coordinator of Music and
Sound Recording at the University of New Haven. His teaching and professional work
in music technology span studio recording, audio post-production, immersive audio,
music composition, and mixing and mastering.
Professor Goldberg began his career as a tracking engineer in recording studios in
Boston before moving to New York City, where he continued his studio work and founded
an audio post-production business. Working on independent film and television projects,
he handled dialogue recording and editing, sound design, original music composition,
and final mixing. Since moving to Connecticut, he has worked on projects at a number
of studios, including Power Station New England in Waterford.
His work includes designing immersive audio systems and listening environments for
private homes and public venues, including Dolby Atmos installations. A guitarist
with extensive experience contributing to studio recordings, Professor Goldberg continues
to mix and master music for independent artists.
Before joining New Haven, Professor Goldberg worked at the Institute of Audio Research
in Manhattan, advancing from instructor to Dean of Academic Affairs. He taught a broad
range of courses in audio recording and production, including many years of instruction
as a Pro Tools Certified Instructor. At New Haven, he teaches studio recording, music
technology, audio post-production for media, and film music. He also mentors senior
capstone projects and advises students completing senior honors theses. Alongside
his teaching, he has worked at the University of Connecticut overseeing the development
of online programs.
Professor Goldberg holds a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music, with a double major in music synthesis and film scoring, and a master’s degree in instructional technology from New York Institute of Technology.
