About Jessica
Dr. Holzer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Population Health & Leadership. Her research interests focus on maternal health, health equity and community well-being. She is an expert in community-based participatory research approaches and qualitative methodology. Her most recent work on maternal health has received awards and recognition from the American Public Health Association. She completed her Ph.D. in health policy and bioethics at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, her M.A. in bioethics at Case Western Reserve University, and her B.A. at Wellesley College, majoring in biology and philosophy.
Dr. Holzer is the co-founder and a board member of Maternal Spotlight, a non-profit providing evidence to support maternal decisions across the maternal experience. She was appointed in 2023 to the New Haven Youth Commission, where she now serves as Vice Chair of the commission.
